Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We stayed here for one night while passing through Volksrust. The town is not nice so a night is sufficient. If you are familiar with North America, it looks like Compton. The little compound that this accommodation is in however is quite pretty and cozy. The flowers all around and the landscaping are excellent. There were only one or two other guests but I imagine when it's more full, the kitchen and other areas are more lively and open. The kitchen was not open so we just had a microwave. We noticed one room had a pool table. We also felt quite safe in the little compound. The location is also 100 metres from a mall with lots of shops, a checkers, some restaurants and other staples you might need. The staff who helped us check in, Princess, was also lovely and very friendly. The room is large and had two beds, which was nice. The water was warm and the water pressure was good. The wifi wasn't too strong but worked well enough. We also noticed some reviews mentioned the poor road and we were preparing for kilometres of unpaved, potholed roads. This is not the case. The accommodation is simply 100 metres off the main highway road and has a few potholes you can easily drive around. Don't let those reviews deter you for that reason. The road is not a problem at all.

Negative: The room was a bit musty and dated. It was reminiscent of the 1980s and the sheets had a few older blood stains on them. Opening the windows and running the fan helped clear some of the air.

Summary: Good stay while passing through town.
